The biggest problem in getting agreement about raising the debt ceiling is that Republicans are fighting among themselves. The Tea Party people in Congress will not raise any taxes [including cutting those tax breaks that give special favors to the richest Americans and corporations], and if it hurts the nation they do not care.
Think who will be hurt the most and the most immediate if the debt ceiling is not raised: the poor, the middle class, the elderly. Imagine, a major political party not caring for these people [again].
The spendthrift Republicans forced an extra election by running fake Democratic candidates, thus costing the state much more money. The Republicans never saw an item they could not support with tax money, especially if they were the beneficiaries, it involved the military, it meant more war, it helped the richest the most, and it gave special favors to corporations [especially military-industrial corporations]. They are famous for wanting to cut Social Security, Medicare, environmental protection, safety standards to protect kids, etc.
Which network hired only Republican presidential hopefuls as commentators on their payroll? FOX! And you know how Murdoch has been such a wonderful citizen.
