Barry's EPA Surprise

Last week, President Barack Obama announced that he would be delaying implementation of several EPA regulations. This came as quite a surprise to me because I thought part of the whole agenda of the progressives and liberals in this country was to make sure that now would be the time that the earth began to heal. Now would be the time that the oceans stopped rising. Now would be the time that the air got cleaner. This becomes necessary because all progressives and liberals know that business owners and job creators will cut every corner to maximize their profits and pollute to the fullest extent of the law. That's why we have laws.

I feel the promise of the president pulling away from me is hoping to change that we voted for in 2008 is now going to seem a little more distant. I remember his campaign speeches on why we need health care reform. I remember then candidate Obama painting a very vivid picture of what could happen in America in the near future: because of the poor are standards, a child could get asthma. Then, what really makes this worse, is that the parents of the child may not have health insurance because their parents may have worked at a company like General Electric and would not move to China to keep their job. Therefore, they would be out of health insurance through no fault of their own. Not having insurance, the child would then have to go to the emergency room. Then, the doctor would give the child a breathalyzer and find out that the child could be cured with inhalants. But the doctor, being influenced by capitalism, but not prescribed the needed inhalants, but would give the child a tonsillectomy because the Medicare reimbursement would give the doctor more money for the tonsillectomy rather than simply prescribing inhalants. This unfortunate scene will continue until 2014 when Obamacare finally gets implemented if it doesn't get declared unconstitutional.

The Candidate's Speech

Last Thursday, news junkies across the country were tuned in to their favorite channel in order to watch the president deliver a much anticipated speech. What we believe we saw, may be as different as the channel that it was watched on.

"Pass this bill"and America will be healed again. "Pass this bill right away."After about a month of congressional recess, and President Obama's vacation in Martha's Vineyard, there seems to be an urgency to pass another stimulus bill. Again, the administration wants it done quickly so that we don't have time to see what's in it. What is in it? Well, nobody knows because he bill does not exist as of today. Even with all this urgency, it may be another week or two before we find out what the president's plan is and how it is going to be paid for. So what is Congress going to actually pass?

Obama's Economic Plan is Working

We are now three years into the Obama presidency. Is it too early to start looking for results on his economic policies? The results are so disturbing that even the liberal media outlets cannot sufficiently spin them into praise for their anointed one.

So what numbers are on the increase? Well, for openers, the gas price is roughly double what it was in January 2009. Electricity and natural gas are not at bargain prices either. Unemployment is up. The Democrat talking points continue saying that Obama inherited job losses at the rate of 850,000 per month. It's time to stop making excuses. The unemployment rate has not been below 9% for more than two months of the past 28. Also out is deficit spending. For three years, the United States has incurred  $1.5 trillion annually in deficit spending. Yet the president has not signed one annual budget since taking office.

Keeping Hope Alive

The 2012 presidential campaign is now in full swing. On one hand, it makes it very interesting because Americans always want to know who their next leader is going to be. On the other hand, it means that the next 14 months are going to be months of divisiveness, partisanship, and arguments.

Four years ago, Americans were fed up with the policies and inaction of George W. Bush. Same were beginning to think that President Bush was going to be one of the worst presidents of modern times. We did not know what was in front of us at the time. We thought that things could only get better. Boy, were we wrong.
