It's Finally Nice Out! Now What? Ideas for Adults and Children

Well it finally seems like we have made it out of winter and we are onto spring! What a great feeling. As I'm typing this, I am enjoying the sunlight hititng my back and lighting up our house. During this time of year I always want to get outside and do something, but being an adult just isn't like being a kid. When I was a kid I could run around outside for hours not doing much more than running and exploring. As an adult, that seems like a silly and exhausting thing to do. So what do you do? I have found that walking with (and without for a more relaxing walk) our dogs is a great way to enjoy the weather. Bike riding, hiking, playing tennis and eventually when it gets warmer out- going to the pool are really fun adult activities. Of course, barbequing is a must this time of year, and probably all year, if you're anything like my family.

If you're a parent with small kids, you may also be wondering how you are going to fill the time this summer and tire the kids out. Other than riding bikes and going to the pool, Mequon offers a lot of parks to enjoy such as Mequon Community Park, River Barn Park and Virmond County Park. Some of these parks not only include playgrounds, but also trails to hike on. Other fun ideas for kids include going to the library or Glaze Pottery in Thiensville to create your own work of art, creating and participating in a treasure hunt, packing a picnic and going on a hunt for a new place to eat or getting wet at home by setting up a sprinkler or Slip 'N Slide. The kids will be happy and so will you. Just because you aren't a kid anymore, doesn't mean you can't act like one!

So get outside and shake the winter cobwebs off! The sunlight feels great!
