The Packers' Role in Global Warming
As the weather gets colder, we must remind ourselves that there is still global warming. Or so we are told. But not by science. Or at least scientists who have done objective, extensive research. Al Gore, liberals, et al. This includes at least a couple of presidential candidates. Of those that are left.
What to do? What to do? Is it too late? Is the problem real or propagandized? Is there something we can do today? Is there something I can do today?
These are all good questions. None of which I will answer. Because if this situation were as dire as the global warming advocates, or climate change proponents would have you believe, I believe there would be more done than what is being done. All that is being done is having the climate change apostles try to get some leverage to boss around impressionable unsuspecting, trusting souls. Ostensibly, the things we are to do is, use compact florescent bulbs, make fewer trips with the car, and trade in our SUVs for cheap, less safe but better mileage cars. Before I can convert to true believer status, I must test the credibility of the global warming advocates by asking them to answer one question: Why have you not taken on some simple but obvious offenders of the cause?
Who might they be? Let's take a look at three examples. If there are any fact checkers out there, please put your books away. We are talking about global warming.
The Green Bay Packers played the NFC championship game on Sunday in 0 degree weather. What does this have to do with global warming? A lot. First, the game was played at night. Under the lights. If it were played in the afternoon like the days of yore, extra lights would not be needed. Less electricity would have to be generated and that would save on the burning of fossil fuels to generate it, hence less global warming. Also, there was reported that a lot of people were flying in on private jets. More burning of fossil fuels. I imagine there were some heaters that were stoked with propane. Propane is what kind of fuel? How about all the people driving to the stadium? Of course many of these activities would be the same no matter where the game is played. Perhaps the global warming advocates should address this with the NFL. Of course they won't.
NASCAR season is coming. What could cause more pollution, destruction of air quality, and place a higher demand on foreign import of oil than 43 cars driving 400 miles 20+ times per year in a circle? Are they running on ethanol? This never gets answered. John Edwards wants to reduce all types of exhaust that contribute to greenhouse gases. He must be the only southerner who has not heard of NASCAR or his principles are not as solid as the pain he feels for uninsured children.
Cold weather itself is a contributor. Houses poorly insulated run the furnace more inefficiently than need be. Cars get worse mileage as a result of cold weather. Drivers waste gas warming up their vehicles. Cold weather has been around for hundreds of years. Many have survived year to year. Last week, a news program reported how the ice is melting on Antarctica while we have single digit temps here. Well, Einstein, it is summer in the southern hemisphere. Things have a tendency to thaw out in summer. Somehow that piece of data was left out. How stupid do news people think we are? Dumb enough to keep watching.
There you have it, fellow citizens.-- The watchdog approach to global warming and climate change skepticism. Enough bark to garner attention but no bite to make a real change. This sounds like a subject for the government to solve.
