WHEW!

Looking through almost 2,000 pages of a proposed Congressional health care bill is arduous.  When it is put together like a jigsaw puzzle to satisfy every self-aggrandizing Congressperson, it is a nightmare.  It is not to be believed how these small minds in Congress feather their own nest.  The current bill is a hodge-podge.  But let me tell you something surprising: this bill could have been written by a Republican dominated Congress.  In fact, there are major portions of this bill that include provisions and wording that mimic past feeble attempts by Republicans to reform health care.  This bill could have been introduced by Republicans in Congress and the GOP Party would have supported it eagerly.

Such is the way Congress makes sausage that is called legislation.  It is a lie, a fraud, a deception to call this bill only a Democrat one.  Republicans could have written it.  And many Democrats are opposed to it.  This bill has been wrongly portrayed as a Democrats bill by a lazy, uninformed media.  If you dig back to some wordings of Republican suggestions from the 1980s you will find very similar wording in the current bill.  The difference: the Republicans do not want anything to pass in this Congress and the liturgy they adhere to is wrapped around one word: no.  The GOP sees the failure of health care reform as their ticket to success in the November elections.  The nation and its people be damned.

Too costly?  Are you kidding me?  What we have now is far, far too costly and the greedy insurance corporations have already shown that they want to increase premiums in ONE YEAR by 39%.  Too costly?  The insurance companies are bleeding us to death...literally.  Without legislation, health care corporations will reap ungodly profits.  Again: the nation and its people be damned.  What is too costly is the current health care system.  Other industrialized nations provide better health care at far less cost.

Interestingly, Rush Limbaugh has "threatened" (as all little boys do from time to time) that if the current health care reform passes, he will get his health care in Costa Rica.  How interesting.  Costa Rica truly has socialized medicine.  And Costa Rica provides excellent health care for a fraction of the price that the insurance companies and health care organizations do in the U.S.  While I would be happy to see spoiled brat Limbaugh move to Costa Rica, I'm also fearful that his track record indicates he might try to smuggle drugs into the U.S.  But that is acceptable because he is a right-winger who preaches to us about morality and ethics and health care.  Is that a crazy scenario or what?

The current health care reform bill before Congress is loaded with mistakes and is incomplete.  But it is still far better than what we have now and what we will have tomorrow if we let health care to the greed and avarice of the current system.

Anyone with an ounce of non-partisanship, anyone with a love for the people of the United States would support this bill.  It will result in far less expensive health care here.  There is no additional provision for abortion.  It is not partisan and represents what many Republicans proposed years ago.  It has been too long in coming [over a century!].  Pass health care reform now.  For a change, let's think of the people and not simply about selfish election or re-election.  Vote for health care now.
