IMMIGRATION FRENZY

The misplaced focus on immigration is one of seeing working people shooting themselves in the foot by blaming Mexicans and other Hispanic immigrants for unemployment.  What a waste of effort by the common American.

Why do you suppose American auto manufacturers and other big corporations cannot provide enough jobs for American workers?  Greed!  Look to Germany.  Vokswagen, Mercedes, etc. all have wonderfully paying jobs, strong labor unions, and they do not use their greed to look for slave labor plants in China, India, Mexico, etc.  Look again to Germany where workers have marvelously guaranteed wages, long vacations, great retirement benefits, national health insurance, and every poll taken shows Germans to be healthier, happier, and living longer than Americans.  We could have this in the United States if we did not build our economy on industrial greed.

America produces good workers.  The Toyota plant in California out-produces the Toyota plants in Japan.  There was a time when America, with very strong labor unions, outproduced any industrial nation in the world.  But for greed capitalists it wasn't enough.  So they cut quality, and they began to look for slave labor instead of rewarding their own American workers.  Coupled with deregulation of American industry and financial institutions, greed crept in and destroyed much of American prosperity.  Read history to find out what happened to American industry and financial institutions since the de-regulation years of Ronald Reagan, carried on by George W. Bush.  Don't quibble, just look at what happened.  This is not partisan opinion, just take an honest look at American industry and finances since Reagan.

It is not the end of the world for U.S. industry, finances, and labor.  But it will take a very different approach to all these categories to improve things.  It means a hard look will have to be taken about reasonable profit by industry.  It means banks will be in the business of deposits, home loans, etc., and not risking everything in a Ponzi scheme that periodically comes crashing down.  It means American labor will have to take a long, hard look at the unreasonable and stupid demands and mistakes it has taken in recent decades.  This will be a monumental task, but it is do-able.  But until the "no" climate changes in American politics, it most assuredly will not happen.  Industry, business, finance, and labor must all see clearly that they are inter-twined.

Stop the fear-mongering about government.  Stop blaming immigrants.  And PLEASE stop seeing everything in a partisan way that only partisan "wins" count for anything.  We are in this together.  The spirit of America does not evolve from "you are all wrong and I am all right" attitudes, or "I've got mine, too bad about you" thinking.
