Lupita Ruiz and Omar Sandoval of Mequon are the parents of Sofia G. Sandoval, born Aug. 24, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls. She was 5 pounds, 13 ounces, and 19.5 inches long. She joins brothers Luis, 7, and Omar, 3.

YOURNEIGHBORS
Michael Werwie of Whitefish Bay has been selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the same organization that presents the Oscars, as a finalist for its Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition. Werwie's script, "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile," was selected from a record 7,197 entries. He will be flown to Los Angeles to participate in a week of industry events sponsored by the academy, culminating in the award ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Nov. 8.
