North Shore Police Report: June 12

BAYSIDE

1A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving and refusal to take a breath test after a 911 call reporting an erratic driver in the 9200 block of N. Port Washington Road at 2 a.m. May 25. The woman failed field sobriety tests, including reciting the alphabet from E to V. She recited it from A to Z. A warrant was issued and she was taken for a blood draw.

2A man, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving after a 911 call reported a car crossing the center line multiple times on West Fairy Chasm Road and North Sleepy Hollow Lane at 3:33 a.m. June 1. At first the man said he had two drinks but, after his breath test, said he had three drinks and a beer. His blood alcohol level was 0.11.

3About $200 was taken during a burglary at Citgo Gas, 310 E. Brown Deer Road, sometime after 11 p.m. June 6 and before noon June 7. A customer reported the burglary after pumping gas and finding the front door unlocked about 11 a.m. June 7. Police found a window broken on the east side of the building, glass on the floor and the cash drawer opened. The entry might have occurred about 2:20 a.m.

BROWN DEER

4An iPhone valued at $750 was taken from a woman who advertised it for sale on Craigslist and met the buyer at Subway, 6514 W. Brown Deer Road, at 5 p. m. May 24. The two agreed on $600 but first the buyer, a male about 20, wanted to make sure it hadn't been stolen so he wanted to call customer service and asked the woman to get him a pen. As she left the table, he grabbed the phone and fled.

5A garage door was kicked in to gain entry to a home in the 5600 block of W. Silverleaf Lane at 8 p.m. May 27. Damage was estimated at $300 but nothing was reported taken.

· A resident reported her bank account information was used to withdraw more than $400 at ATMs located overseas May 28. The bank reimbursed her.

· A Brown Deer woman, age not released, was arrested for disorderly conduct and damage to property, both domestic violence-related, after she broke a TV, threw items around the house and poured detergent on her boyfriend's bed at 7:20 p.m. May 28. The woman said he had cheated on her and after she confronted him, he took her clothes outside and poured bleach on them. When police arrived, they saw what looked like blood on a wall which turned out to be pizza sauce. She had thrown pizza on that wall.

6A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for theft of items valued at over $300 at Kohl's, 9060 N. Green Bay Road, at 3:30 p.m. May 29. The woman entered a fitting room with a large empty purse wrapped in tape and exited with a very full purse. The items were recovered.

7A sewer grate valued at $180 was reported taken from the 4300 block of West Bradley Road at 9:15 a.m. May 30.

8A car was reported damaged while parked in a driveway in the 5800 block of West Glenbrook Road overnight May 30 or 31. A window, door handle and the side of the car were hit by rocks, causing damage of $1,500.

· A Brown Deer man, age not released, was arrested for disorderly conduct/domestic violence related after he took his wife's phone and hit her in the face, causing a swollen eye at 11:58 p.m. June 2. The couple had an argument earlier and the man left but when he returned they began arguing again but this time she recorded his actions on her cell phone.

FOX POINT

9More than $900 in cash and a Mac Pro valued at $1,000 were taken during a burglary in the 7500 block of North Beach Drive sometime May 30 to June 1. The money had been in two jars, one in a dresser drawer and another in a closet. There was no sign of forced entry.

10A man, age and residence not released, was arrested for disorderly conduct after yelling at a woman walking her dogs on the wrong side of the 7300 block of N. Santa Monica Blvd. at 6 p.m. June 3. The woman said the man yelled using a derogatory word and then followed her as she walked continuing to yell and also taking photos of her. When he was asked if he used that word he denied it saying, "I could have called her worse than that." He also said he was concerned for her safety and that she had yelled at him, too.

11A man, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving after a 911 call reporting a car crossing the center line on North Lake Drive at North Holly Court at 9:40 p.m. June 6. The man had a BAC of 0.15.

12About six $100 bills were reported taken from a fire safe in an apartment closet at the Porticos, 500 W. Bradley Road June 7. When the bills were taken was not known but workmen had been in the residence recently.

GLENDALE

13A passport, USA visa and wallet were taken from an employee's desk at Columbia St. Mary's, 4425 N. Port Washington Road, May 27. It was that employee's first day on the job.

14An iPad Air valued at $630 was taken from a display at US Cellular, 6969 N. Port Washington Road, at 2:46 p.m. May 28. A man entered the store, tore the device from the docking station and fled.

15A 2000 Honda Civic valued at $3,600 was taken from the Lydell parking lot, 5800 N. Bayshore Drive, between 3 and 9:30 p.m. May 28.

16An attempted car theft was reported in the 500 block of West Glen Bay Avenue about 9:30 p.m. May 28. The steering column was destroyed and change taken from the car.

17A woman reported her wallet was taken from her purse by a man who brushed against her as they entered California Pizza, 5665 N. Centerpark Way, about 7 p.m. May 28. Her credit cards were used at a Target, charging $1,700, and at a gas station for $100.

18A 31-year-old Glendale woman was arrested for theft of bedding, including sheets and a comforter valued at $295 at Sear's, 5900 N. Port Washington Road, at 2 p.m. May 29. The woman, who had two small children with her, was recognized by an employee who saw her take items the day before.

19Two 18-year-old Milwaukee women were arrested for theft of items valued at $1,125 at Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, at 5:10 p.m. May 31. The women were seen putting items into shopping bags and walking out the west doors toward a parked car. That car pulled away as police arrived and the women were arrested. One said she was "between homes and had no money" and the other said she needed something to wear for her graduation.

20A man, taken into custody by Milwaukee police for two armed robberies, is a suspect in an armed robbery at Cousins Subs, 5333 N. Port Washington Road, at 10 p.m. May 31. The man entered the store and ordered three cookies. When an employee opened the cash drawer, he pulled out a handgun and said, "Give me all that (expletive)" grabbing about $300 and fleeing. Employees ran to the Perkins next door and called police.

21An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of marijuana, driving without a valid license, failure to have insurance, not wearing a seat belt and was warned for driving without headlights near the 5700 block of N. Port Washington Road at 2:45 a.m. June 2. The man told police he couldn't find his ID and they should look for it. They didn't find the ID but did find a baggie with .5 grams of marijuana under the front seat. The man said, "That's my weed."

22Seven mattresses, along with carpeting and a box spring placed in the driveway for disposal, were found burning in the 2400 block of W. Woodbury Lane at 6:15 a.m. June 3.

23Four BMW rims and tires valued at $4,200 were reported taken from the service department at Concours BMW, 5990 N. Green Bay Avenue, at 9:45 a.m. June 3.

24A 37-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs without a prescription, driving after revocation and two warrants in the 5500 block of N. Green Bay Avenue at 5 p.m. June 3. The woman had three pills each of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone, saying she paid $5 per pill.

25A 60-year-old Detroit man was arrested for identity theft after he attempted to purchase two cell phones and a service agreement using another man's identity at Verizon Wireless, 5790 N. Port Washington Road, at 5:30 p.m. June 3. To check that ID, the store called the Michigan number and a man answered saying that was his name and he was in Michigan. The man in the store then admitted buying the ID for $40 in Detroit.

RIVER HILLS

No reportable offenses.

SHOREWOOD

26A resident reported that a check previously stolen along with her purse had been issued to and cashed by WE Energies to pay a $1,147.67 bill for a residence in the 4100 block of N. Green Bay Avenue, Milwaukee, May 30. The purse had been taken from her car in the 4000 block of North Estabrook Parkway in April.

27A man, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving after he was stopped for weaving in traffic in the 3900 block of N. Murray Avenue at 2:25 a.m. June 1. He failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of 0.15.

28Police were called to a child in a locked car outside Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Avenue, at 12:30 p.m. June 2. Police did gain entry and found the mother with other children inside the store. The woman said they had just arrived in America from Jordan two days before and thought the child would be safe while she shopped. The child was not injured.

29Two juveniles were counseled after one was found face down on the sidewalk at East Wood Place and North Oakland Avenue at 8 pm. June 3. They told police they were doing an experiment to see how "citizens would respond" to a person down on the street. A similar incident was reported in Whitefish Bay.

30A resident found two pit bulls that got out of a fenced-in yard in the 4500 block of North Bartlett Avenue at 8 p.m. June 3. The resident returned the dogs to that yard and found four more dogs without food and water. Animal welfare was notified.

· A resident reported being the victim of a scam June 4 after sending money to a person she met on Match.com May 8. She and the person, who said he was a contractor working on an oil pipeline, communicated by e-mail, phone and yahoo messenger. After a short time, that person said he needed $5,000 to continue his work and asked her to send that amount via Western Union. She did. He then said he needed another $4,000. She sent just $2,000 and he immediately asked her where the other $2,000 was. It was then she called police.

31The theft of a $100 bill was reported at a veterinarian clinic in the 3700 block of North Oakland Avenue at 6:45 p.m. June 5. The complainant said he placed the bill in the cash register at 1 p.m. and when he looked for it later it was gone.

WHITEFISH BAY

32A resident reported that a "big and burly" white male about 50, a stranger, entered her home without permission in the 1200 block of East Courtland Place about 10:30 a.m. June 2. The man said something about work on her home and then left.

33A male and female, ages and residences not released, were mailed citations for violation of park hours at Klode Park, 5900 N. Shore Drive, at 1:12 a.m. June 5.

34A car was broken into and rummaged through but nothing taken parked in a driveway in the 5100 block of North Berkeley Blvd. sometime 7 p.m. June 5 to 10 a.m. June 6. Damage to a window was $300.

· A resident came to the police department reporting he had been followed all the way to Whitefish Bay by another car driven by a male who yelled and made threatening gestures near the Marquette Interchange at 7 p.m. June 6. That driver yelled that he intended to follow the resident to his home. However, he drove away when the resident stopped at the police station.

35A female, age and residence not released, was found "unresponsive on the ground" in the 700 block of East Hampton Road at 11 p.m. June 6. North Shore Fire aided the female.

· A Whitefish Bay man, age not released, was arrested for disorderly conduct/domestic violence related, after a 911 call reporting a fight in progress at 2 a.m. June 7. The man injured his hand after breaking a mirror. No other injuries were reported.

36A GPS unit valued at $200 was taken from an unlocked car in a driveway in the 5900 block of North Bay Ridge Avenue between 1 and 8:45 a.m. June 7.

NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT

· Firefighters responded to what was described as a "small trash fire" that damaged two sections of fence behind the 2100 block of W. Woodbury Lane at 4:36 a.m. June 7. Glendale police were on the scene and a report states the fire was intentionally set. A similar report was on Longview Drive, no address listed, with two piles of debris burning in the road at 3:34 a.m. June 7.

· Firefighters responded to 113 calls, 80 emergency medical and 33 fire/rescue, June 2 to June 8.
