1Graffiti was spray-painted on a deer trap at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, 1111 E. Brown Deer Road sometime the week of March 25 and reported April 4. There was no information regarding damage.
2A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, underage drinking and refusal to take a breath test after he was seen driving 25 mph in a 35 mph zone and weaving in traffic on Brown Deer Road at Raleigh Drive at 4:09 a.m. April 5. When asked if he'd been drinking he said "not at all." When asked again, he said "a little" but a short time later again denied drinking. His preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.089. A 19-year-old male passenger was arrested for underage drinking.
3A 42-year-old West Allis man was arrested for drunken driving and running a red light in the 500 block of West Brown Deer Road at 2:48 a.m. April 7. When asked to recite the alphabet, he finished by saying, "W, X, R, Z." His BAC was 0.23.
4A woman called police after she was told her $100 bill was counterfeit when she tried to use it to buy gas at BP Gas, 5125 W. Brown Deer Road, at 2:40 p.m. March 23. The woman, the treasurer at Holy Ghost Tabernacle Baptist Church, said the bill was found in a collection basket sometime during three special revivals days before. The bill was turned over to the Secret Service.
5A man, residence not listed, who said he was 20 was arrested for underage drinking, disorderly conduct and resisting after a witness reported him yelling and screaming obscenities in the parking lot of Brookline Apartments, 4475 W. Dean Road, at 3 a.m. March 24. The man, who was incoherent and fought with police, was arrested and placed in a cell. After 15 minutes, he said they could let him out because he was "OK now." His blood alcohol content was 0.18.
A Brown Deer woman, age not released, was arrested for disorderly conduct/domestic violence related after hitting another female in the back and throwing items around an apartment at 5:45 p.m. March 26. The two women had been arguing about household chores.
6A bicycle valued at $500 was taken from an unlocked garage in the 9100 block of North Bethanne Drive on March 26 or 27.
7A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving and unsafe lane deviation after crashing into a culvert at the corner of Tower Avenue and North 60th Street at 2 a.m. March 30. She failed field sobriety tests and had a BAC of 0.13.
8A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving, violation of a restraining order and recklessly endangering safety/domestic violence related at BP Gas, 5125 W. Brown Deer Road, at 10:50 a.m. March 30. The woman was a passenger in a car driven by her former boyfriend. When he went inside to prepay, she got into the driver's seat and when he came out, tried to run him over. She sideswiped his leg but he was able to jump out of the way and was not injured. As she attempted to drive away, she drove over a curb and ran into some trees. When arrested, she began to cry telling police, "I love him." Her preliminary BAC was 0.196. She told police she didn't feel well and was taken to a hospital for treatment and a blood draw.
9A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving after she was found unconscious in her car in the 7000 block of North Claire Court at 3:50 a.m. March 30. Police had seen the car earlier, about 3 a.m., unoccupied but with the headlights on. The woman told police she was at her boyfriend's house. Her BAC was 0.17.
A Fox Point man, age not released, was arrested for battery/domestic violence related after a woman called 911 at 7:45 p.m. April 4. The woman said the man, her husband, was drunk, struck her and then poured alcohol over her head. The man, who denied the allegations, had a preliminary BAC of 0.144.
10A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after passing out in his car with engine running partially blocking a lane of traffic in the 7200 block of North Port Washington Road at 6:30 a.m. March 23. When asked if he'd been drinking the man turned up his radio. When asked for his driver's license, he pulled out a credit card. His BAC was 0.12.
11Two Milwaukee brothers, 20 and 27, were arrested for burglary, for knowingly fleeing an officer and the older brother for a parole violation after taking property valued at more than $400 including an electric guitar and watches from the 1000 block of West Glendale Avenue about noon March 26. Police responded to a burglary in progress and arrived just as the men drove away. They followed that car until it spun out on the entrance ramp to Interstate 43 at Hampton Avenue. The men fled the car running into the Milwaukee River. They then waded across and were arrested in the 600 block of West Rock Place soaking wet and cold.
12A 40-year-old man, residence not available, was arrested for possession of 0.2 grams of marijuana and disorderly conduct after causing a disturbance on a Milwaukee bus in the 2500 block of West Silver Spring Drive at 12:20 a.m. March 26. The man, who was highly intoxicated and the only passenger, yelled and cursed at the driver when told he had to get off. He then said he was a gang member and would "hunt down" the driver.
13Two 18-year-old women and a 15-year-old girl, all of Milwaukee, were arrested for theft after loading their purses with items and leaving Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, at 7:50 p.m. March 27. They were stopped and the items, value not listed, were recovered. The females also had jewelry valued at more than $200 taken from Francesca's, 5709 N. Centerpark Way.
14A 16-year-old boy, two days from his 17th birthday, residence not listed, was arrested for theft of 13 items including bras and panties valued at $273 from Victoria's Secret, 5701 N. Centerpark Way, at 3:30 p.m. March 29. The boy fled the store with the items setting off the alarm but was stopped a few blocks away. The stolen items were recovered in the Park and Ride lot where he had dropped them.
15A 23-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft, possession of an anti-theft removal device and a warrant at Sears, 5900 N. Port Washington Road, at 6 p.m. March 31. The man fled the store with watches and other items valued at more than $240. He was stopped a few blocks away and asked the officer, "Why are they chasing me? I didn't do anything."
16A 47-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for violation of a restraining order and a 64-year-old Glendale man for party to the crime of that violation in the 6500 block of North Green Bay Avenue at 6:40 p.m. March 31. The Milwaukee man is not allowed on the condo property and according to a police report, the older man invited him into his home.
17A 26-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving and inattentive driving after driving off the road into Indian Creek causing severe damage to the car at River and Bradley roads about 2:30 a.m. April 2. The woman left the car and knocked on doors and residents called police. The woman had slurred speech, was cold, smelled of alcohol and there was blood on her clothes. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and a blood draw. Later after being released from the hospital, her BAC was 0.18.
18A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving and speeding 45 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue at 1:20 a.m. March 27. His BAC was 0.18.
19A 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving and refusal to take a breath test after being stopped for loud music and expired plates in the 1400 block of East Elmdale Court at 4:15 a.m. March 29.
20A 70-year-old Shorewood man was cited for theft after attempting to take a bus transfer as he exited a bus at Capitol and Wilson drives at 11 a.m. March 30. The man was also warned for disorderly conduct after swinging his cane at an officer.
21A basement door was damaged, possibly in a burglary attempt, in an apartment building in the 4400 block of North Oakland Avenue on March 27 to March 30. Damage was $300.
22A wallet valued at $500 and contents including $200 cash was taken from a locked car in the 4500 block of North Estabrook Parkway between 2:45 and 4:30 p.m. March 30. A window was broken to gain entry. The victim said her wallet was wrapped in a towel.
23A dead bolt was damaged in a possible attempted burglary to an apartment in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue sometime March 30 to April 1. No entry was gained. Damage was $75.
24An electronic tablet valued at $600 was taken from Shorewood Coin Shop, 4409 N. Oakland Ave., about 2:15 p.m. April 3. Two to three people entered the shop together and while one pawned a necklace, one took the tablet.
25A 1996 mountain bike valued at $600 was taken from a lower level parking structure in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue sometime April 1 to 3.
26A 33-year-old Illinois woman was arrested for obstruction after reporting her 2005 Toyota minivan had been stolen from the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue on April 2 or 3. The car was recovered in a wooded area near the 4300 block of Estabrook Parkway on April 3 but it had not been stolen. The woman, who was reportedly intoxicated, had driven the van into a wooded area, fled the scene and then told police her van was stolen.
A 24-year-old Shorewood woman reported being the victim of fraud after answering an ad for a nanny job posted on Craigslist on April 4. The woman was sent a check for $2,480, told to cash it and keep $350 for her first week of work and send the rest back via Western Union to someone in North Carolina. She did. The check sent to her was worthless.
27A 55-year-old Whitefish Bay woman was arrested for drunken driving and hit and run after hitting a light pole and then fleeing the scene at Marlborough Drive and Henry Clay Street at 6:20 p.m. April 2. A witness got the plate number and the car was found in the 5000 block of North Woodburn Street. The woman admitted hitting the pole and also admitted drinking and having just used mouth wash to cover up the odor of wine. Her BAC was 0.15.
28An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was mailed citations for unreasonable and imprudent speed, going 50 mph in a 25 mph zone, and failure to have insurance after crashing into a traffic signal, utility pole and two fences in the 6200 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard at 5 p.m. April 3. The man was fleeing, he said, because a truck was following him after he had taken $7 worth of gas and not paid for it at a Glendale gas station. An 18-year-old Milwaukee man, his passenger, was cited for failure to wear a seat belt. The men were turned over to Glendale Police.
29A male, no other information available, was arrested for drunken driving and refusal to take a breath test after he was seen weaving in traffic and then blocking the northbound lanes at Lake and Silver Spring drives at 8:15 p.m. April 7. He was given medical assistance and taken for a blood draw.
NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded to 118 calls, 87 emergency medical and 31 fire/rescue, April 1 to April 7.
30Firefighters responded to a report of heavy smoke at the rear of a home in the 5900 block of North Sidney Place, Glendale, at 4:12 p.m. April 5. Two trucks were sent and firefighters reported that the residents were burning leaves in an open fire pit but that the fire did not create a hazard because it was being attended with a hose nearby. The residents were told to cover the pit and extinguish the fire and that no open burning is allowed. Firefighters were called back at 7:43 p.m. for leaves and brush still burning in the fire pit now sitting in the driveway. No one answered the door and firefighters put out the fire with a pump can.
