Police report: Jan. 20

BAYSIDE

· A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving and unsafe lane deviation after a 911 call reporting a reckless driver exiting Interstate 43 and stopped in the 9200 block North Port Washington Road at 10 p.m. Jan. 17. The woman appeared drowsy and when asked if she was OK, said "I think so" admitting having two drinks an hour before. She failed field sobriety tests and had a preliminary blood alcohol content of 0.22.

· A man, age and residence not released, was arrested for driving while impaired, possession of marijuana and given a 15-day correction notice for unregistered vehicle in the 300 block of West Brown Deer Road at 6:44 a.m. Jan. 18. There was a strong odor of marijuana in the car and when asked if he had any of the drug he said no but then quickly corrected himself and handed over a plastic bag with 1.5 grams of marijuana and a pipe with residue. He told police that he and the passenger had just smoked marijuana before being stopped by police. He was taken for a blood draw.

BROWN DEER

· Almost all of the copper piping was taken from the basement of a vacant home in the 6500 block of West Brown Deer Road sometime Jan 2 to Jan. 9. The piping was valued at $5,000 and damage to the home was more than $1,000. A door was forced open to gain entry.

· A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for driving a motor vehicle without the owner's consent in the 4500 block of West Dean Road about 2 p.m. Jan. 3. The police were called to the scene and saw the stolen car just a few houses away. The woman admitted taking the car because, she said, it belonged to a friend and she needed to go to the hospital and intended to return it quickly.

· A laptop computer valued at $500 was taken from a car in a garage in the 9400 block of North 49th Street sometime Jan. 3 to 7.

· A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for hit and run and a warrant after a witness saw her drive into a parking lot and hit another car as she attempted to park in the 9200 block of North Green Bay Road at 10:20 a.m. Jan. 8. After hitting that car, the woman parked at another location. She was located and told police she thought she hit a snow bank. Damage was reported at more than $700.

· A residence was broken into and an unknown amount of change taken in the 5600 block of West Range Avenue before 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8. A backdoor was kicked in to gain entry.

· A boy, age and residence not released, was arrested for possession of marijuana at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., at 1 p.m. Jan. 10. The odor of marijuana was reported in a lower level men's restroom and surveillance video showed the boy going into that bathroom and staying from 20 to 30 minutes. The boy was located in class and, when searched, the marijuana was found and police called.

· About two feet of copper piping, value not available, was taken from the basement of an unsecured vacant house in the 6200 block of West Darnel Avenue before 11 a.m. Jan. 11.

· A tablet valued at $750 was taken from a business in the 4000 block of West Bradley Road before 5 p.m. Jan. 12. The tablet was secured to the wall and used by employees to check in.

· A woman came to the police station Jan. 13 to report that a known suspect had taken two pieces of jewelry valued at $7,200 from the 8200 block of North Teutonia Avenue of Jan. 12. The case is under investigation.

· A woman, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving, refusal to take a breath test and warned for driving without headlights in the 5200 block of West Brown Deer Road at 12:35 a.m. Jan. 13. When asked why she was driving without lights, she said, "My car is not great."

GLENDALE

· A cellphone valued at $600 was taken from a backpack left on the floor while the owner played basketball at LA Fitness, 501 W. Northshore Drive, about 3:15 p.m. Jan. 8. Three other thefts were reported that same afternoon but no details were available.

· A 30-year-old woman, residence not released, was arrested for theft Jan. 11 from her employer, City Animal Hospital, 325 W. Silver Spring Drive, on Jan. 8. The woman had taken business checks and after forging them cashed 22 checks for more than $8,000. She admitted the theft and forgery.

· A car was entered but nothing taken in the 600 block of West Silver Spring Drive between 8 and 10 a.m. Jan. 10. A window was smashed to gain entry.

· Two cars were entered at Wisconsin Athletic Club, 7601 N. Port Washington Road, between 8 and 9:40 a.m. Jan. 10. Purses and contents including some cash were taken from each car and two cellphones valued at $400 were taken from one. Windows on the cars were broken to gain entry.

· A resident came to the police department to turn in an envelope holding five marijuana joints he found on his porch Jan. 10. The man said his wife is in treatment for cancer and whoever left the marijuana joints knew that he and his family are against the drug being used for any purpose. No other details were reported.

· A man and woman, ages and residences not released, were cited for disorderly conduct after fighting with employees outside Pizza Hut, 6040 N. Port Washington Road, at 11:15 p.m. Jan. 10. The couple became disorderly inside the restaurant complaining of the service. They were asked to leave and did followed by employees and a fight began. One employee reported being hit in the head with a roller skate. Surveillance video is under review.

· A women reported that a boy between 8 and 14 years old, exposed himself at Pick 'n Save, 1735 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 11. The boy had been following the woman and when she asked him a question, he exposed himself saying, "Don't tell my grandma." A woman appeared and she and the boy quickly left the store.

RIVER HILLS

No reportable incidents this week.

SHOREWOOD

· A resident reported that a UW Credit Union Visa card was used to make 26 purchases Dec. 17 to 26 and reported Jan. 15. No information was available on where the charges were made or the amount.

· A man came to the police station to report he was the victim of a fraud after giving a stranger $200 cash Jan. 11. The two met at a store in Milwaukee with the stranger asking for money because he needed his car towed. They then drove to a Shorewood bank where the victim withdrew the money and gave it to the stranger. They then drove back to Milwaukee where the stranger disappeared.

· Two packages of books valued at $30 were taken from a front porch in the 4500 block of North Morris Boulevard about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 13. The resident saw a male take the packages and flee in a white van.

· Damage was reported in a garage and a house after someone shot arrows into those locations in the 1800 block of East Kenmore Avenue sometime 3:50 to 4:15 p.m. Jan. 15. Damage was listed at more than $300 but what was damaged was not available.

WHITEFISH BAY

· Police responded to a burglar alarm in the 5400 block of North Hollywood Avenue at 1:25 a.m. Jan. 15. A side door was found "open and ajar" and the home was cleared. There was no sign the residence had been entered.

· A girl, age and residence not released, was mailed citations for theft and loitering on school grounds at Whitefish Fish Bay High School, 1200 E. Fairmount Ave., at 3:38 p.m. Jan. 15. The girl admitted to taking money from student lockers "on several occasions" and was released to a parent.

· A house sitter reported a burglary of jewelry and two TVs, value not available, and $60,000 of US Savings Bonds in the 5200 block of North Kimbark Place sometime Jan. 15 to 4 p.m. Jan 18.

· A Whitefish Bay woman, age not released, was cited for disorderly conduct for making obscene gestures at a woman in the 300 block of East Day Avenue at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 16. The woman had been previously warned if she continued with the "ongoing harassment and inappropriate hand gestures " she would be cited. She continued and was cited.

· A man, age and residence not released, was arrested for drunken driving, with a prior conviction, failure to wear a seat belt and nonregistration after he ran into a traffic pole at the corner of Lydell Avenue and Silver Spring Drive at 8:50 p.m. Jan. 16. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and also a consensual blood draw.

· An attempted fraud was reported at PNC Bank, 130 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 11 a.m. Jan. 18. A woman attempted to access a business account with which she had no connection and when questioned she fled the bank.

NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT

· Firefighters responded to 176 calls, 100 emergency medical and 76 fire/rescue, Jan. 6 to Jan. 12.

· Firefighters responded to 110 calls, 78 emergency medical and 32 fire/rescue, Jan. 13 to Jan. 19.
