1An unknown substance, possibly sugar, was put in a car's gas tank in the 4100 block of West Rivers Edge Circle between July 4 to July 10. Damage was $3,500.
2A car was entered and $5 change taken at American TV, 6700 W. Brown Deer Road, the afternoon of July 6. Damage to a window was $250.
3A 17-year-old Greenfield boy was arrested for underage drinking as he walked with friends in the 8300 block of North 61st Street at 2:15 a.m. July 7. At first the boy denied drinking but then said he had one glass of wine. His preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.038.
4A hit and run was reported in the 5800 block of West Green Brook Drive during the day July 10. The driver's side quarter panel and bumper of a 2012 Toyota had damage of $750.
5A 42-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested at 11:35 p.m. July 10 for burglaries all caught on surveillance video at Car Choice Auto Wash, 8300 N. Teutonia Ave., on July 5, 6, 7 and 10. On July 10, the owner was watching surveillance video from his home and saw the man, whom he recognized as the same man in the other burglaries, breaking into his business and called police. The man was arrested but said he had only entered the business because he had to "pee." In each burglary the man used a crow bar to open the pay boxes taking at least $200 each time. On July 5, he also took the payment device valued at $3,462 which held about $300. That afternoon, an officer saw that device discarded in the 8100 block of North Sherman Boulevard. The money was gone.
6A catalytic converter was taken from a Buick Rendezvous in the 4400 block of West Deer Run Drive overnight July 10 or 11. The replacement cost was $307.
7A men's mountain bicycle valued at $500 was taken from a carport in the 4500 block of West Fountain Avenue within an hour of 9:30 a.m. July 11.
8A digital media player valued at $100 was taken from a car parked at Cousin's Subs, 5191 W. Brown Deer Road, at 1 p.m. July 13. The car's owner heard glass breaking and saw a male drive off. Damage to a window was $300.
9A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, with two prior convictions, failure to wear a seat belt and driving without head and taillights in the 4500 block of West Bradley Road at 11:30 p.m. July 13. The man would not look at the officer and when asked why said, "I'm nervous." He admitted having a "few drinks" hours before. His preliminary BAC was 0.149 and he was taken for a blood draw.
10A stereo valued at $539 was taken from a car parked at Old Country Buffet, 6538 W. Brown Deer Road, between 3:30 and 5 p.m. July 14. Damage was $300.
11A 17-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for underage drinking in the 8600 block of North Port Washington Road at 2 a.m. July 13. The boy, who smelled of alcohol, refused to take a breath test because he said he hadn't been drinking.
12A cash register valued at $25 and about $60 cash was reported taken from Art Trooper, 333 W. Brown Deer Road, at 1:30 p.m. July 16. There was sign of forced entry at a rear door.
A Bayside mother and father, ages not available, were each cited for two counts of contempt of court and their child, age and gender not available, for one count of contempt of court July 17 after they failed to appear at court seven times regarding the child's citation for curfew last October. They failed to appear Oct. 29 but called saying someone was ill. They didn't appear again Nov. 15, again because of illness. They were ordered in again Dec. 6, Feb. 7, March 20, July 3 and July 17 and never came. The citations were taken to their home July 20.
A resident reported ID theft after charges and credit cards were opened in the resident's name to make purchases at Macy's, Sam's Club and a Missouri Best Buy on July 17.
13A 50-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after driving erratically and very slowly in the 4900 block of North Port Washington Road at 1 a.m. July 12. The man admitted having "two beers." He failed field sobriety tests including reciting the alphabet when he stopped and asked "Where am I?" His BAC was 0.10.
14A 34-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of 2.4 grams of marijuana and driving while suspended, with three prior convictions, when stopped for displaying a stolen license plate in the 5700 block of North Centerpark Way at 6 p.m. July 13. The man said his brother, who works for a dealership, lent him the car but he couldn't name the dealership. He then admitted smoking marijuana earlier but said it was OK because he had a prescription for medical marijuana from California. No prescription was found but the marijuana was.
15A laptop computer, computer accessories and cash with a total value of more than $2,000 were taken from the 5500 block of North 26th Street about 3 a.m. July 14. The resident reported hearing the floor creak about that time and she called out "Is someone there?" Entry was gained through an unlocked window. Left at the scene was a man's white tank top.
16Four wheels and tires were taken from a 2007 Mini Cooper in for service at Concours Motors, 5990 N. Green Bay Ave., on July 13 or 14. The owner said these were factory aluminum wheels valued at $8,000.
17A 40-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft of two pairs of headphones valued at $500 from the Apple Store, 5715 N. Centerpark Way, at 6 p.m. July 14. She and a male took the headphones. The woman was stopped, with a wire cutter and nail puller in her purse, but the man ran off and was last seen in the tunnel of the parking lot.
18An 18-year old man, residence not listed, was arrested for possession of marijuana at La Quinta Inn, 5423 N. Port Washington Road, at 11:30 p.m. July 14. Police were called after a report of the entire second floor smelling of marijuana. A trace amount of the drug was found in the room although the man and others in the room denied it was theirs.
19Two pit bulls were reported fighting in the 7000 block of North Rockledge Avenue at 11:30 a.m. July 16. One of the dogs bit a woman when she attempted to stop the fight. One dog died and the police put a hold on the other one. Both were picked up by Animal Control.
20Two Milwaukee girls, 16 and 15, were arrested for theft of clothing and jewelry valued at $468 from Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, at 2:40 p.m. July 16. One girl stole a purse and filled it with stolen items. The other girl took jewelry hiding it in her pockets.
21A 20-year-old man, residence not available, was stopped while riding his bicycle southbound in the 5600 block of Interstate 43 at 11:45 a.m. July 17. He said he recently moved from Tennessee and was following the directions from his Global Positioning System unit to his uncle's house. He was given a ride off the expressway.
22Burglaries were reported at First Weber Group and Cedarwinds Investment Management, 4650 N. Port Washington Road, on July 17. Taken was a flat screen TV valued at $1,000 and two laptop computers valued at $1,016. An alarm sounded at First Weber at 12:31 a.m. July 17. There were signs of forced entry.
23A catalytic converter valued at about $400 was taken from a company van at SOS Electronics, 2310 W. Camden Road, on July 17 or 18. An attempted entry to a storage warehouse was also reported.
24A 58-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, with a prior conviction, after he was seen stopped in a traffic lane without lights in the 3000 block of West Brown Deer Road at 10:25 p.m. July 20. The man said he didn't have his lights on because of a bad battery. However, his lights did work. He did have a flat tire so shredded he was riding on its rim. His BAC was 0.23.
25A company laptop computer was taken from a car parked in a church lot in the 2500 block of West Brown Deer Road on July 22 or 23. There was no information available regarding the value of the computer or damage to the car.
26A 32-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving, driving while suspended, failure to have insurance, open intoxicants and driving without lights in the 4000 block of North Morris Blvd. at 2:25 a.m. July 13. There was a strong odor of marijuana in the car and the woman admitted smoking it earlier "while at a bar." Her three Milwaukee female passengers, 22, 30 and 31, were arrested for open intoxicants.
27About 20 hosta plants were found pulled out the ground in the 4400 block of North Oakland Avenue at 8 p.m. July 15. The amount of damage was not listed. Left at the scene was a pair of muddy shoes, a pair of pants, an ID card, a debit card, a pack of cigarettes and $85.
28Two bicycles valued at $350 were taken from a backyard in the 1900 block of East Kenmore Place between 9 and 10:30 p.m. July 16.
29A window was broken at Shorewood Middle School, 3830 N. Morris Blvd., at 2:20 a.m. July 16. The amount of damage was not available.
30A resident reported the attempted theft of his 2010 Dodge from the 4300 block of North Morris Boulevard on July 17. The steering column had damage of $300.
31A $175 bicycle was taken from the 3800 block of North Morris Boulevard during the day July 18.
32A 53-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for burglary after breaking into laundry machines in the 1700 block of East Newton Avenue at 9 p.m. July 18. The man is also a suspect in similar burglaries or attempted burglaries in the 1400 block of East Capitol Drive on July 11 or 12 and in the 4000 block of North Morris Boulevard on July 13.
33A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for battery and trespassing after a report of him "fighting with a girl" in a car in the 1900 block of East Newton Avenue at 5:45 a.m. July 18. The "girl's" father arrived and the man ran off but was caught.
34A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving and failure to stop after running a red light and hitting a tree in the 4000 block of North Oakland Avenue at 5:54 p.m. July 19. His preliminary BAC was 0.34.
A resident reported that his Visa credit card had been used fraudulently to purchase $311 of items at a Richmond, Calif., Walmart on July 16.
35A 16-year-old Whitefish Bay boy was cited for disorderly conduct in the 800 block of East Glen Avenue at 5:50 p.m. July 17. He had been cited for a curfew violation at 1:25 a.m. after his mother called to report him as a runaway. As police arrived, the boy returned home.
36A flat screen TV and recorder valued at more than $1,000 were taken from a duplex in the 1500 block of East Hampton Road about 11 a.m. July 18. A witness reported seeing a man walking out of the residence carrying the TV and getting into an SUV. A partial plate was reported. Wauwatosa police reported that a 29-year-old man driving a car with a similar plate was a suspect in two burglaries there.
37A 12-year-old Milwaukee boy was counseled and turned over to a relative after he was stopped by Shorewood Police Department riding a stolen bike in Estabrook Park at 6:40 p.m. July 18. The boy admitted taking the bike, valued at $120, from the 4900 block of North Shoreland Avenue the evening of July 15.
38A 33-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, with two prior convictions, and driving after revocation in the 100 block of West Silver Spring Drive at 3 a.m. July 20. His BAC was 0.16.
39An 18-year-old Whitefish Bay man was arrested for underage drinking when he was found sleeping in a car in the 1000 block of East Hampton Road at 5 a.m. July 22. The man who was described as "highly intoxicated" said he had also taken prescription pills. He was treated at a hospital.
NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded to 139 calls, 80 emergency medical and 59 fire/rescue, July 16 to July 22.
40A garage fire was reported in the 4300 block of North Woodburn Street, Shorewood, at 8:43 p.m. July 16. Firefighters found a transformer arcing which might have set fire to dry vegetation and that traveled to the rear of the garage. The fire was extinguished.
41A power line was down and arcing burning a hole in the concrete at the on-ramp from East Silver Spring Drive to travel south on North Green Bay Avenue at 6:07 a.m. July 21 in Glendale. A number of homes were without power along with traffic signals. Police responded to direct traffic for about 90 minutes until power was back on.
42A natural gas odor was reported in the 100 block of West Krause Place, Bayside, at 9:49 p.m. July 21. The cause was a broken gas pipe at the meter of a home. The gas was turned off and We Energies responded to repair the meter.
