The Homestead baseball team upset top-seeded Nicolet today, 6-2, today in a WIAA sectional semifinal game at Whitefish Bay.
The Highlanders, which were seeded fourth in the sectional, got a complete game, four-strikeout effort from senior pitcher Casey Barnes.
Homestead (20-15) took the lead for good with a two-out rally in the third inning, when the team scored four runs on five hits. The key hit in that rally was a two-run double from Matt Lamers.
With the win, Homestead advances to sectional final at 4:30 p.m. today against the winner of game between Whitefish Bay and Port Washington.
