Eastcastle Place and Newcastle Place Senior Living Communities Celebrate Annual Senior Health & Fitness Day

June 21, 2012

Milwaukee, Wis., June 20, 2012— Senior living communities Eastcastle Place and Newcastle Place, located in Milwaukee and Mequon, recently celebrated the 19th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day, a tradition where 100,000 older adults participate in activities at more than 1,000 locations throughout the U.S. Both communities embraced this year’s theme, “Get Moving…Start Improving,” by providing a variety of booths and activities that specifically addressed ways to keep older Americans healthy and fit. National Senior Health & Fitness Day is the nation’s largest annual health promotion event for older adults.

Featured activities at Eastcastle Place and Newcastle Place included:
•Individualized fitness tests to assess current level of physical fitness
•Comparisons of individual results to normative standards of seniors around the country
•Fitness testing stations that focus on mobility, strength and flexibility
•Demonstrations of senior focused exercises
•A fitness knowledge mini quiz
•Exciting prizes and delicious refreshments

“We had a great turnout of more than 70 residents and are thrilled to be able to continually embrace senior health and fitness through fun educational events and activities,” said Becky Willett, Director of Community Services for Eastcastle Place and Newcastle Place.
